Get Prepared for Heat
As summer approaches, now is the time to create safe work practices for outdoor work in the heat. Some workers need to be extra-cautious when working in heat, and may need to drink more water and take more frequent breaks. Certain health conditions or medications can reduce tolerance to heat.

OSHA to employers: Submit Form 300A by July 1
OSHA is reminding certain employers to submit their 2017 injury and illness Form 300A data by July 1. The rule applies to firms with 250 or more employees and those with 20 to 249 employees in certain industries with historically high occupational injury and illness rates.

The first of the National Dialogue on Highway Automation meetings hosted by the Federal Highway Administration is taking place this week in Philadelphia. The remaining events are set for Aug. 1-2 in Seattle, early September in Chicago, Oct. 24-25 in Phoenix, and the week of Nov. 12 in Austin.

NIOSH Study Shows Increase in Health Insurance Coverage
Americans employed in the farming, fishing, and forestry and construction and extraction industries, which are among the most hazardous, ranked some of the highest as uninsured. Lack of health insurance has been associated with poorer health status.
