The Respiratory Protection Standard: From Dust to Smoke to Coronavirus

Nationwide, 1.4 million workplaces provide at least some of their employees with respiratory protection. Studies indicate that gaps exist in their written respiratory protection program, their understanding of OSHA requirements, or the administration of the program.

Tips to Winterize Your Workplace Safety Plan

Cold weather safety should be top of mind for the nation's nearly 31 million small businesses and their 60 million workers. While safety prep should begin well before the first frost covers the ground, it's never too late to make sure safety precautions are set for whatever winter brings.

Assess Your Risk of Exposure: NSC Releases Statement on Coronavirus

The National Safety Council is urging employers with employees who travel internationally and those in the international travel industry to assess their risk of exposure to the coronavirus and ensure procedures are in place to effectively control transmission.

20 Seconds to Optimize Hand Wellness

One of the world's most crucial and selfless acts is still simply washing your hands. Many Americans' standard of what constitutes a washing of the hands is abysmal. Only around 5 percent of us regularly wash long and thoroughly enough.

Take-Home' Exposures are Public Health Hazard

Workers in many industries inadvertently bring home toxic contaminants, endangering the health of their families. Those at greatest risk are the least likely to benefit from current regulations.

20 Predictions for 2020

Blending a proactive approach with innovative tools will help those in EHS and occupational health rise to the challenges and opportunities we'll face in this new decade. Here are some emerging topics that will impact your job in the upcoming years to come.

Researchers Link Distraction to Rise in Cellphone-Related Head/Neck Injuries

Head and neck injuries related to cellphone use increased steeply over a recent 20-year period--with distraction a significant factor. Injuries have mainly been reported from incidences during driving, but other types of injuries have gone largely underreported.

Reimagining CPR Training to Enable More Real-World Applications

The current emphasis on formal CPR training isn't succeeding very well according to some key measures. As a result, the vast majority of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims don't get CPR. Alternative approaches may improve survival rates.
